Macro image of reflective raindrops on a Rose of Sharon stamen and pistils, and stuck to the stigma tendrils on top.
Sony DSC Rx10 M3...f/5, ISO 100, shot on auto, but used manual focus, handheld (unfortunately)

Welcome to NPN and the Floral Gallery, Lori. This is a really nice first post with excellent detail in the subject. I don't know what you're using for processing, but if you could blur the background part of the image a bit more, I think it would be even more effective. You might also move your logo down where it's less distracting.

Lori: Welcome to NPN in general and to the finest Flora gallery on the planet in particular. I have a special fondness for drop shots and this is a good one. Would love to see a larger version of this and I do agree with Dennis about making your logo less obtrusive. Great to have you aboard and looking forward to more of your images and also your critiques of other's work. >=))>

Welcome to NPN, Lori. Great to have another flora photographer and, judging from this first post, a fine one at that. Excellent vision to see this and to get all the refractions in the drops pretty well in focus. Looks really good for hh. I'll just 2d Bill's request that you post a larger image in your future posts.

Cool shapes and great details Lori. I like the color too. Welcome to NPN Flora! I have found that I have learned as much from commenting on other people's photos as have from having my own commented on. Consider making some critiques and suggestions.

Thanks very much, gentleman! I appreciate your kind welcome and honest opinions, with which I agree. By posting a larger image do you mean zoom out or in closer? Closer I lose clarity and resolution. I also can't figure out how to reply to individual comments!! Newbie dilemmas....

Lori, by "larger image," we mean that posters can post optional "larger images" up to 1MB and 1600 pixels on the longest side. The larger image can then be viewed by clicking on the small arrow that appears under the "regular" size image that appers on the screen when a thumbnail is clicked. I generally will prepare a file up to 1 MB and 1200 pixels on the long side. I then upload that using the "large file" option on the upload page. The site will then automatically downsize the file to meet the "regular" size limits for when the image opens on the gallery page. As noted above, a viewer can also see the larger size file if the viewer clicks on the small arrow under the regular size photo. In the alternative, you can upload a regular size (up to 500 kb and 700 pixles in length) and a large size image separately. It is a bit confusing until you get the hang of it, but described here (link found under the "Posting Photos" section of the "site tips and help" page):
p.s., there is no way to reply to individual comments unless you do so by replying after each comment is made and before the next comment is made. However, you can always reply/respond by directing your reply to the person who made the comment even if there are intervening comments.

Hi Lori, welcome from myself too! A very interesting (positive sense) first post (once the watermark is placed 'out of the way') - looking forward to seeing more.

I vastly prefer the repost. I suggest you indicate a repost in your original post so viewers can look for it. I added to the heading in this for an example. BTW, this is quite good. I would love to see more. —Phil Hodgkins
