Phlox and Juniper

Going back to an older image after a few years I usually see small things I can do to make it better. Such was the case with this little landscape from Sonora Pass. When I reviewed the original file a few days I decided to tweak the contrast along with the saturation in the yellows, reds, and greens just a bit. The original 4x5 chrome was made in July 2005.

Tachihara 4x5
Fujinon 180mm + 81b
Astia 100F

Please see the large version. Thanks!

Your thoughts are always appreciated. cool

Nice variety of textures in the grass, rocks, flowers and bark.  A delicate mini scenic whose elements work very well together.  I like the mood and it would definitely make a fine print.

Extraordinary.  I am such a sucker for intimate landscapes, and this one is crafted masterfully IMHO.  Great elements, composition, and processing.

This is really nice Preston. I would love to develop such a good eye for intimate landscapes.

I admire your ability to see these wonderful intimate landscapes, Preston.  This may be my favorite of your recent posts.  Love the color and textural transitions.  Glad you went back and reprocessed this one and gave us a chance to see this excellent work.  Very nice.

I really like this intimate landscape, Preston. Unlike my image where the grass overlapping the rock is a bit of an issue, here it works very well, perhaps even better than if it were absent entirely. The wood has come out particularly good in this image, both in tonality and in color. If I'd have my rathers I would darken the yellow juniper 'leaves' on the left central border to about the level of the ones in the bottom right corner, which in my opinion are more attractive. Yeah, the wood in the ulc corner is just amazingly beautiful.

This is excellent, Preston. You really did a nice job setting up this composition and the colors in this are just wonderful. As Igor mentioned the wood is especially beautiful. I like this a lot.

Well composed for the three main elements, Preston. The rocks, flowers, and tree trunk are a nice combination/contrast of color, texture, and form.

I love these kinds of intimate landscapes and you do them so well, Preston. The large version showcases the textures and details of the three main elements in the scene. This would make a beautiful print.
