This Phoebe was patrolling the pond for bugs in the Chinese Gardens section of the Huntington Library and Gardens last Saturday. Thank you for your thoughts.

A nice clean capture of this little Phoebe, Ed. I was going to suggest more detail in the eye, but the large image does open up the shadow in the turned head and eye. This is a nice over-the-shoulder shot against a great background. BTW, a Phoebe was the first entry in my life list.

Nice pose with the head turn. Detail looks good and I like the perch. The upper background has a somewhat painterly feel to it.

You have very nice elements in the image, Ed. I like the bud and your composition emphasizes it. The head-turn is also good - a bit more would have been ideal. I would like to see some more details in the head, particularly around the eyes. Maybe some selective brightening would help.

Pose is excellent and just work on the dark shadows on the face to pull out some more detail as my only suggested edit...............Jim

One of those images where the perch really makes the shot, Ed. It would be a nice shot otherwise, but with that lotus for a perch it's outstanding. Well done.
