Portage Glacier 720

Taken many years ago in December.  Had a nice sunny day in Alaska, while getting reindeer for the Minnesota Zoo.  Visited the same place some 20 years later and was surprised how much the glacier had changed.

Mamiya 645, Ektachrome film.

Yes, it definitely looks like Alaska!   You captured some nice light on the glacier & peaks, John.  The contrast seems just a bit strong, which amplifies the blues and eliminates any details in the trees, but it does make the light more interesting and helps with the foreground details.

The highlight on the distant peak and the blue sky with scattered clouds are very attractive, John.  The icy water adds a good sense of place and the stacked ridges create depth.  The larger view shows fine detail and color in the glacier.

I was up in Alaska last July John, and saw a few glaciers but not sky as blue as this.  Got some nice cloud formations in the sky, good foreground detail, and I like all the intersecting lines in the mountains.  Some more tree details would have been nice, but not sure if the trade-off would have been worth it.

Nice colors and textures, and pretty light on the peak.  My suggestion would be to crop down from the top, eliminating the upper cloud wisps (and keeping the lower one).  This would allow my eyes to focus more on the foreground and peak, which is really the center of attention.
