Probably not the most imaginative spot.  But, I hadn't been here in 11 years, so I figured what the Hell....

The balance of those warm sun glows with the cold snow and the bit of fog is exquisite - especially with the reflection in the water.  Excellent capture and processing

Michael,
Often photographed but this is a superb rendition. You've captured beautiful fog in the valley. If it were mine, I think I'd raise the contrast in the foreground snow

Fog, reflection, fire light, why wouldn't you photograph it?  I like it a lot. I do agree a bit more contrast in FG would make this even better.

Amazing conditions at a great location, you have to photograph it. Nice job, its already been said but not sure if the foreground could use a bit of contrast.

Foreground?  Move the viewpoint about 18" to the left to open up the reflection and balance the near composition?

Nice light on the top of the El Cap "nose".

A grand spot, I think I have seen this somewheresad.  Incredible light in the distance and I think the foggy conditions add to the image.  The FG rock/ branches take a little away from the balance of the image for me.  Not sure if it is the shape or positioning of them that gives me that impression.  I can se why you and many other return to this location as the potential looks fantastic.  Doesn't look like there was much snow in the valley at the timecheeky.

A classic Valley View scene and beautifully done. I might back off the cyan a bit in the snow?

Beautiful conditions and light. I would tweak the colour balance of the foreground snow which seems a bit flat and grey either towards a more neutral white or even more cool.

It has never bothered me that somebody chooses to shoot an iconic spot cos only a fool would turn their nose up when conditions are like this.  A wonderful smear of reflected orange kissing the cliffs juxtaposed with pale cyan blues.  I do agree a step to the left would separate that reflection a tad better from the snow foreground and I suspect a little too much recovery or frozen misty breath has faded the contrast of your immediate foreground the blacks appearing milky.

What a wonderful, classic catch, Michael.  The highlight along the ridge and it's reflection are a great contrast to the foggy shadows and snow.  The sharpness in the river is wonderfully eyecatching in the larger version.  I do agree that toning down the blue in the snowy rocks would be a nice, subtle improvement.

No imaginative..... we'll to my own benefit I have not seen this view before. Great picture! The fiery mountain, sheer cliffs and stone-cold FG makes dramatic viewing. I also like the tall shadowy trees in front of the cliffs. A pity only that the reflection is not more clear.

Spectacular view Michael.  I haven't been there in 20 years but I hope I get such good conditions next time I visit.

I can't find a Nikon D8 mentioned on the Internet. Was this a typo? Did you mean D800?

hello michael... beautiful capture. I can see where others have suggested a little to the left, to catch that peak separated, but I do really enjoy how you have capture the background with peaks and valleys  and the foreground has nicely balanced those peaks with a fill-in effect  where there are peaks in the background with lower areas in the foreground!  Nicely captured with the moody mist rising!

And  Thanks  for sharing !

Beautiful image.  The reflective sun even melts the ice and snow.  What a great place to be.
