Mountain Harbor - Frozen

A very cold February day at the Valdez, Alaska Small Boat Harbor.  The salt water was freezing and as is often the case when it gets very cold in the winter, a severe wind storm was approaching fast.  There are no clouds in this scene.  What you see is snow blowing off the mountains in the background!  When you see that volume of snow blowing off the mountains you know the winds are exceeding 100 mph!  It was still calm in town but the wind dropped down into town within an hour after I shot this.

Sony DSC-R1, ISO-160, f/8.0, 1/1000, handheld.

Pretty wild that the "clouds" are snow blowing off the mountains...only in Alaska, I guess...  I'm enjoying the cool blue view with the scattering of other colors.  I like your comp. with that tallest mast approaching the top and the reflections filling the bottom.  The image really pops in the larger view.

Nice color in this harbor image.  Hard to imagine a storm coming when it looks so pristine and calm, except for the snow on the mountains.  The composition IMHO is right on with the reflections.  Thanks for sharing.
