Turnbull NWR in Northeastern Washington, 7-2014. Great diversity of habitat and wildlife in the refuge, from wetlands, Aspen riperian, praire and Ponderosa Pine. We saw whitetail during the day and elk at twilight. Great place for birding and photography. Hope to do more exploring there next year. Here's an image of wetlands with some prairies and mature stands of Pine.

4 commentsStephen, the blues and greens here make for a striking view and the various edges work their magic by adding lots of depth to the scene. The 50:50 split with the scattered clouds makes a fine contribution. I also like the grass seed heads in the front. They do a good job of putting me there. However, I think the bottom half of the grass isn't adding much. Take a look at this as a pano. As an aside, it's quite often the case that what gets left out is more important than what's included when it comes to making an outstanding picture.
Thanks for comments and the less can be more input, Mark. Does look a little messy on the bottom.
Hi Stephan
Beautifully captured.. showing some very interesting and diverse images of edges i think i would crop out a bit of sky, and leave the grass intact.
