Taken along Whistle Ridge on the Denali Highway last weekend. There seemed to be an unusually high number of Whimbrels. Even a quarter mile from the nest, they would come and cmplain.
Cropped to vertical. Slight adjustments to Levels and selective sharpening to bird.
C & C, please. Thanks for looking.

8 commentsHi Jim,
I rarely get to see these guys during migration, so it is nice to see one in your posts. I like the pose and arrangement in the frame. There's a dark brown spot above and to the left that pulls my eye a bit. I like the grass stems and grass seed heads that surround the bird. Well done...................................Jim
Nice one, Jim. I don't get to see much of these guys here. I am sure he was squawking at you here, and you've captured that well. Good job!
Lovely shot of a bird I will probably never see. Is this the old Denali Highway?
Great calling pose and nicely composed Jim, I'm seeing a touch of noise in the background which is surprising to me at that iso.
Excellent detail, nice light & color Jim.
Great head turn, like that parted beak as well
Nice habitat, wonderful muted colors. Really like the composition and the Whimbrel's pose. Ray
Nice one, Jim.
I like the foliage and the green bg. Bird is in a nice pose
Nice image, Jim. I like hte head turn and the vegetation. The one grass stem in front of the bird is a plus for my taste. I think if I were cropping this with that frontal pose, I'd move the bird just a bit more toward the center of the frame-the left side feels a bit small for this pose to me.
