I have been waiting for these plants to go into bloom and finally yesterday's 70 degree temperature got them all going.  The background is a skunk cabbage leaf and seems to work with this shot. K5 IIs 300mm f4 plus 32mm extension (1/200 sec at f14, ISO 800), Levels, Hue Saturation, Make It Glow.......................................Jim

I agree, the skunk cabbage makes an excellent BG Jim.

Nice comp, light, color, & sharp details.

F/14 worked well here, & the LP's in your face greatdevil

What's the size of this lily, I'm assuming it's fairly small?

Good exposure and DOF of a lovely Trout Lily. The BG needs a slight touch of noise reduction.cool

Hi,

Thank you for the comments.  Most trout lily fall between 1-1.5 inches in diameter.  Phil, I added a touch of noise reduction to the BG.......................Jim

Jim - A little tough shooting these as they do not grow very tall. Nicely captured with a natural backdrop !

Nice detail, Jim, and those yellows are very well controlled.  I like the backdrop too with its gradient light.

Trout Lilies are a spring time favorite, Jim.  I tried a few in my garden, but they didn't like the conditions.  You've done very well here getting the entire head sharp against a nicely oof and very complementary background.
