Trillium

Taken in a rather dark forest setting.  I liked the geometry and shadows and the luminance of the pollen on the foreground leaf.

Canon 7D; 24-105 at 45 mm; 1/250 at f5.6 with on camera flash; ISO 100

Thanks for looking; comments appreciated.

Allen, so do I! The hard lighting of the flash in combination with the dark BG gives the photo a very "graphic" look that might serve as a good basis for a photo-art rendition, where the high contrast could be used to good effect.

Hi Allen,

Nicely saturated image and the pollen does add some texture to the leaf.  I generally do not like harsh lighting on plant shots, but this time it works very welldevil..................................Jim

Tack sharp and obviously in harsh light. It seems to work well here, although I wish the flash were less direct and dialed back a bit.

Allen - Really like the great textures on the preserved in spite of the harsh light you had to manage as well as the composition. Front to back DOF also needs specific mention.

This is a fine look at this trillium, Allen.  I think the deep shadows here work well by reemphasizing the 3 lobed shape of the leaves and the flower.
