First Light

I was out this morning very early to do some more night sky shots. This is the very early twilight. Enough light to add interest, but not enough to over power all the stars. This time of year the prairie is not very pretty, but the sky can be powerful any time of year. Thanks for you comments and critiques.

Canon 7D
Sigma 10-20
Manual
Shutter 30 sec
Aperture f4
ISO 1600
10mm
tripod and remote release
Some extra work in Lightroom to bring out all the color

I like the twilight color here with just enough color to add interest along the horizon and in the clouds. I like how you emphasized the expansiveness of the night sky with the comp.

Looks like you uploaded the wrong large file, it's the one from your chimney rock photo! But I like the flow in the sky in this photo, warm in the bottom and cold and starry above that layer. The clouds add some nice perspective as well.

Richard, I like the clouds and color along the horizon, and then that wide open starry sky looks great. Yes, the large version is another image.

The clouds give this a beautiful sense of expanse and depth. Nice colors.

Seems like your self-tutoring at night shots is paying off, Richard. Without the larger image it's hard to tell whether the FG is grainy or if that is a natural appearance. The stars and clouds appear very natural. I like it beaucoup. :toast:

Nice color in the sky and clouds. There's just enough detail in the foreground to give this a nice mood.
