Columbia Gorge winter scene. Canon 5DMk2, EOS 16-35mm at 25mm, polarizer. Iso100, f22 for the sun, f13 for the rest. The water at 0.5sec. Some HDR and hand compositing to put it all together.

Great composition - the somewhat "fairy tale" air of the moss on the trees works well, I think.

I'm always torn about these HDR images and whether they feel "right" to me. The composition is spot on and the SS is sweet although the sunstar is a bit more pronounced than I think most of this forum likes. I feel like the shaded right side should be darker but maybe that's how your eye, as opposed to the sensor, would actually see it. The more I look at it, the "righter" it feels. I thnk I'd try and eliminate the flare in the lower left but other than that a nicely presented landscape.

As a strong HDR opponent, I have to say that this is really great! You controlled the ligth well, and the different greens are a pleasure to look at.

Nice peaceful image. I'd like the shadows a tad darker. The lens flare in the lower left is distracting. I like the light and the color looks good.

I think you handled the HDR very well here. I like the composition and the light feels right of the time of morning. This image works because I can feel myself standing here and enjoying the early morning by the rushing water.

I do like the angle of the river. Maybe a bit to exposed.

The composition and execution is really nice, but HDR still screams HDR, having fooled with several very similar river, forest sky images the HDR never seemed quite authentic to me. In my case probably a lack of expertise... Either our technique, the software or both will eventually win out. Pretty good job, it's about as close as I have seen!

Tom, yes, if an image screams HDR, then I've got it wrong. Generally boosting the global contrast will counteract that at the expense of shadow detail.
