I finally got close enough to these guys to get a decent shot. I wrapped myself in camouflage netting, hunkered down on the shore and waited for them to come to me. It worked pretty well. I like the water colors on this one. Processed using Lightroom 5 and Photoshop CC 2014. Comments and critiques welcome.

Everything about this image is most wonderful. The colors in the BG are stunning setting the drake up beautifully. Love the detail inclusive of the beak.

Lovely capture of this beautiful drake Jerry. Very good detail and the water color offers a very nice background. My only suggestion, and a very minor one at that, would be to offer a tad more room on the right of frame.

I just saw these ducks on a lake near my home and thought I would try to do something similar after seeing your post. I was never able to get close enough and it was way to cold to sit and wait. Maybe another day.

I enjoy your waterfowl images very much.

Nice image with a good pose captured. Nice feather and beak detail. Perhaps a slight adjustment to bring put more detail in some of the black?

Jerry,
Congratulations on your persistence and willingness to drape yourself with netting like a creature from the sea. You should save the disguise for Halloween! Everything about the shot is wonderful. And certainly after capturing such detail we want to show it off. I wonder if you allowed a bit more space on the right if the overall image would be better composed. I find it hard to back off with the result being a smaller bird in a better structured image. Good job catching this fellow. :toast:
