"Happiness is a Swan Feather Pillow"

A trumpeter swan at a pond near my home. My camera didn't have much reach but after sitting in plain sight for hours at a time and many days for many years the family was quite comfortable and trusting of me. This was the lady of the family and while I was watching them she just tucked in her beak and went to sleep. She drifted by right in front of me. Fortunately my Sony R-1 is completely quiet (zero shutter sound) so I didn't wake her when I took the photo.

Sony DSC-R1, ISO-160, f8.0, 1/500

Perfect indeed for the topic - it does not get more peaceful that this. And a beautiful composition, complemented by great light. :toast:

She stands out beautifully, especially in the larger version, Gary. You've also got great details in her feathers and reflection.

She looks very peaceful! The reflections and the green grass in the bg are beautiful. Very nice, Gary!

Gary, I love where you have placed the swan in this photo. The still water, swan with reflection, and simple color palette all create a very relaxing mood.
