Llama @ Papallacta

Driving thru Papallacta Pass back to Quito we encountered four llama that had just descended from the high ground above the road. I had my 500mm on the camera in hopes of any pop-up birding targets when these guys just walked in front of the vehicle. Exiting the car I was able to capture some close-up head shots of this one fellow who captured the moment well, at close to 13000 ft elevation he had worked up a bit of a sweat.

Hi Chuck, nice clean portrait, like the hint of breath. The BKG adds a nice backdrop and colours give standout. :toast:

Hi Charles,

It does look a little winded! I like the simplicity of the shot, but think if you processed the shot to show the mist of the breath a little more prominently it would be even stronger. That would involve a selective contrast adjustment (I'd do it using a selective curves adjustment) enhancing the differences in tone between BG and the lighter mist/breath.

Cheers...

Nice profile against a clean background. I like a lot of things about this, including the complementary gray tones in the fur and the background. The wispy texture of the fur and the slight breath cloud also enhance the image. Good work, Chuck.
