Hi all! It's funny to me which images become particularly (and usually subjectively) personal to photographers. This one grew on my quickly.
I was out in our acreage photographing a resident chickadee with Josiah last week and noticed a family of deer making their way across the field to the north. We pretty much never point our cameras in that direction, because the Canadian Rockies stretch from the NW all the way to the SE from our property, and they are pretty spectacular most days. But the light was SO sweet (the sun was just about to go behind the mountains at the end of the day), and this young mule deer looked so cute, and the chickadee was elsewhere at the moment...
I'm glad I quickly relocated for a couple of frames before returning to our feathered friend, and I hope you enjoy this one as well.
Please view LARGER if you have the time! I took the time to switch over to live view to make sure I had the focus nailed so the detail is pretty sweet for this distance I think.

Great "in the environment" shot, the background makes this
Nice looking winter scape ! Enjoy the varying levels of different items, from grasses, snow, sky etc.
Cheers

The sequential layers in this shot are visually interesting, and I like the reasonably extreme placement of the subject. Definitely carries the feeling of a midwinter southern Alberta scene!
Cheers...
