We encountered this skua on an island in Tierra del Fuego during my Patagonia trip five years ago. I was just glad my gear still worked after I fell off the boat onto the beach. One of my finer moments in the field.

The flowers really make this unusual. Very nice.

Hi Max,

Is there a larger version? Looks like fine streaking in the plumage and water droplets on the bird's head and back give some really nice detail but that would be easier for me to see with a larger version.

don't eat the flowers. Might tone down right wood just a bit more. :wavey:

Interesting comp Max. I've never heard of this bird. He looks sharp and the flowers add a lot of interest to the scene. Maybe a little tight on the left, I like it.

This is a wonderful composition Max. I like how the wildflowers frame the bird and I like curvy log too, this photo displays a nice view of the Skua along with it's habitat.

I like the contrast between a fairly nasty bird – a combination nest predator and pirate – and the pastoral scene with all the flowers. The contrast is very good. Technically excellent. Maybe just a smidgeon more room on the left, but excellent as posted.
