Frosted Leaf

The winter temperatures have returned with lows in the teens this morning. This is a practice shot I took of a frost covered leaf. I did some luminosity masks on expanded midtones, lights, and dark darks to pull out hidden details and colors. K5 IIs 180mm f3.5 (0.3sec at f16, ISO 200)..................Jim

I can "feel" the crispness in the morning air. Nicely done. :toast:

The detail on the ice crystals is very good, but some of them appear a bit blown out - I wonder if you could get more detail on the crystals by increasing the contrast in the brighter part of the histogram ? :wavey:

Good processing! I don't see the blown highlights Alberto is talking about. Probably a monitor difference. I don't say I'm right, but this looks just right on my monitor.

Nothing like a dose of hyper-realism– my teeth are chattering.

Hey Jim,
Nicely seen, captured and processed, the detail throughout is wonderful. You timed this capture to perfection to have the ice crystals in their prime, I too am not seeing any problems with blown whites on my monitor.
Well done . . . :toast:
