Following Peters comment, I have posting this image from those I took at the Nature Center. I was pleasantly pleased that the nuthatches allow me to be as close as I was. Tried to clone out some of the twigs but blotched the job, decided to post as it is.

I like this one better. The black cap is handled better and the eye isn't as dark and has a nice catch light. There was something very static about the previous one, while this one seems to be intent on something. Nice.

Hi John--Merry Xmas,

I agree with Allen about the improved quality of this post over your previous image. The head-on view with catch-light in the eye are wonderful features of the image. :toast: .........................Jim

Beautiful attitude and eye contact! And I can't really tell where you botched the cloning - I don't find the twigs bothersome as they are.

John,
Wonderful little bird. I wonder how it would look if it were not cropped so tightly. :toast:

Agreed. A better photo. He does look intent on something - Christmas treat? Looks like he's ready to move. I like the black cap here and the catchlight from the eye. You didn't have a small aperture but still got pretty good DOF. Bills a tad soft, then rest of bird is nice all the way to the very end of the tail feathers where it softens again. Lots of feather detail. Colors look good as well. Those little branches and stuff like that can be really hard to clone out. I've given up on more than one.
