I read up bit on these birds on the Cornell bird website. These frenetic little guys weigh 10 grams, are 10 cm long from tip of beak to tip of tail and consume 10 calories a day, usually in insects. Here's one as it hopped along a branch.
D4, 500 mm lens at f/11, 1/1600, Auto ISO at 1000 and -2/3EC. This is about 70% of the original. Richard

One cute bird. I might try cropping a bit more from the bottom to remove more of the OOF branch. Well done.

Richard,
Very nice catch. It is a lovely little bird and I like the perch and the background. I wonder if doging around its eye might help the eye stand out. :toast:

Thanks guys for the comments and suggestions which are good. Should have looked more closely at the eye. It's mostly OK on my screen, but not so in the post. Here's a version with the eye dodged and a bit of the bottom of the frame cropped. Richard

Cute little bird. Has dimunitive written all over it. Sharp focus over the entire bird is really nice and helps get a good view of it. Colors look good, although this bird is on my bucket list they just seem natural to me. BG is excellent and really helps show off the bird and doesn't attract any attention. Nice job.

The re-post is very good, Richard. Interesting to see a Pygmy looking a little wet and rough; usually they are sleek.
