Leaves at Fern Spring

I found this nice leaf pattern floating on the dark waters of Fern Spring in Yosemite Valley during my trip there with Harley a couple of weeks ago. The leaves are Big Leaf Maple.

The Autumn color in The Valley was gorgeous this year compared to when we were there in 2013. It was a fun time!

Please see the large version. Thanks!

Your thoughts are always appreciated.

Nice intimate scene. The over-all warm tones are nicely complimented by the hints of blue in the water and the peek-a-boo pale green leaves.

Preston, This is wonderful! The dark water made a great backdrop for the leaves. Nice work on the comp and the colors and detail look fantastic to me.

Nice work, Preston. I know how difficult it is finding a coherent composition in a bed of fallen leaves. In this case, I think the dark water and the darkness of the older layer of leaves helps a lot to isolate and highlight the newest layer of bright yellow leaves. I like the "spice" of the fir (?) needles sprinkled on the scene, too.

One of your better intimate abstracts, Preston.
Subtle attractive colors and the pine needles?, scattered about, add a lot to the composition.
Well seen.....

Simply sweet! These intimate scenes always look so straight forward when done as well as this but getting the comp right is always takes great care to accomplish.

Another of my favorites Preston. Great comp and superb processing and textures. I also like the mood of it very much.

This is a fine look at this collection of leaves, Preston. I find myself liking how the "ring of openness" and the scattering of pine needles add interest.

Beautiful vision in this capture Preston. I too enjoy how the darker leaves provide a nice contrast with the beautiful yellow leaves. The sprinkling of needles completes this image wonderfully.

When I was there the weekend before you, I stood there and just said to myself, "yuck"! I just saw a mess. I'll have to look harder, I guess, cause' this is really nice!
