I've seen very few butterflies this summer and even fewer dragonflies. :frown: But, I've seen lots of happy bees. So, when in Rome... This image, taken a couple weeks ago, is one of my all time favorite bee on a flower shots. The early morning light reflected off the dahlia to give the dahlia a nice glow which in turn helped light up the bumble bee with soft warm light. I also used a reflector to add some light to the flower and bee, which was still moving slowly in the morning chill. Fellows Riverside Gardens, Youngstown. Full frame, single image. D600, 150 macro, f14, 1/320, iso 800. Thanks for looking. Comments, questions, and suggestions welcome. :wavey:

Scott - I presume those superb Dahlia close-ups will be coming soon as well ?

I love the processing and the light here. The warm colors seems to be reflecting off of the Bee. Very nice.

Hi Scott-I agree. I have seen less butterflies this season too.

I really like the comp and colors!

Great color and composition...nice positioning of the bee against the fuschia color for maximum pop. This is very nice indeed.

Hello Scott...love the perspective ..and the bold petals in the frame ...also like the way the petals melt away to the edges. Fine detail in the bee too

Scott, the long chilly winter/spring had a huge effect on the butterflies in MD. While our annual count was only down by 5 species (out of 41), the total number of bfs was half of normal. I sure like how the flower center seems to radiate light like a small sun and the bee is wonderfully sharp. This is a fine look at the bee gathering pollen.
