Tatoosh Blues

I went to Mt. Rainier this weekend for what I thought a couple of months ago when I booked a room at Paradise Lodge would be an epic star photography and wildflower weekend.
The first fall storm put the kibosh on that, clouds and rain to the 4000 foot level......
The Tatoosh range to the south was out of the clouds for a few hours so I did get to salvage a bit of the weekend......

Nice alpine scene, Dan. I like the way the timber leads your eye to the peaks and snow fields. The stormy sky is a great addition. I wonder about the reddish spot on the side of the center peak. I'm sure it's natural, but looks out of place in this beautiful color scheme. At any rate, nice shot and I'm glad you were able to salvage your weekend.

A really neat look from here, Dan. I like this composition from this POV. Taking a bit of liberty with the scene I might take out the tops of the three smaller trees poking in from the bottom center, but again taking liberty there of removing them. Not sure if it might be a good move without doing it, just a thought.
Not sure what you've got going on with the red / orange color along the mountainside in the BG, but it looks to be off to me. Another easy fix there of course if it is an issue. Otherwise, a very clean looking scene overall.

Thanks, Gary and Paul.
The red patch is completely natural, most likely just mineral stain colored rock fields.
A tele photo view.

Dan, this is a great scene and capture with the lush greens and impressive peaks. The darker spots across the line of peaks looked initially like an artifact of blending or burning; perhaps it's natural to the scene but it did catch my eye. Sorry the weather didn't cooperate, but this looks like very fine country to hang out in. :wavey:

Nice green alpine meadow leading to the stark peaks and the stormy skies. Nice balanced composition overall. Too bad the weather didn't cooperate better for you.

Great scene in wonderful light. The composition, tones and color look very nice. I do agree with the comment about that red patch on the side of the mountain. Since the spot is natural, perhaps you could drop its saturation just a bit? I agree with Paul regarding the three trees along the bottom edge-center.

Nice image, and you were rewarded with some dramatic light.

Very nice alpine scene Dan with very nice detail in the fore ground and the grassy area leads into the scene nicely. I agree with desaturating the patch on the mountain as it draws my eye too much. Very nice scene though. Well done.

This is at least as good as yet another shot of wildflowers at Mt R. The greens here are really nice and I like the depth and textures.

Very nice Dan. I am ok with the red, but would also agree with a slight desat of that area. Also, I quickly skimmed the comments, so maybe someone mentioned it and I missed it but I would look at bringing up the darks in the very tops of the peaks; they look like a mask transition
