Sticky Sunset

Strange title, but it was a hot, humid, and sticky afternoon on the beach today. Actually, it was rather miserable and the sunset wasn't very good either, but what the heck.

This is only the second image under my new calibration so please let me know if there's any issues with brightness, contrast, colors, etc.

Comments always welcomed - thanks for looking.

This image does not make it look hot and sticky, Bill. It's speaks wonderfully of a quiet beach (even the sea oats are standing up straight) with beautiful sand and gently inviting colors in the sky. The colors and brightness look very good to me on my calibrated monitor.

This is a very beautiful image, Bill. The colors, brightness and contrast look just fine on my monitor. Looks like a great way to end the day even if it was hot and humid.

Just recalibrated the monitor tonight and this looks fine. Very nice image that speaks to a quiet, calm evening at the beach. Sunset isn't spectacular but it will do. Nice clouds. The sea oats add lots to this photo. Even the ocean through the veg looks pretty calm. All in all it comes together rather nicely and sets a wonderful mood.

I don’t know what’s wrong or right, but I know what I like and this comp really has it going on, Mr.

Nice foreground subject on the left, line leading to the background sun on the right, line of white cloud in the right spot, wonderfully, evenly lit sky to the corners and great color that does not look over cooked.
The components seem to be in the right spot for balance.

In my opinion, one of the better ones in your gallery.

Looks nice. Sand looks like snow, but that's cool. Could see maybe trying to get a little more light in the land.

Hard to say w/o a comparison, but i think i would prefer this warmed up. As TK says, it looks like a cold scene, and you said it was hot. That don't mesh for me. Id like the warmth of the sunset to dominate here. My 3 pennies... :wavey:

Bill, this looks pretty nice to me. I agree with Tony about opening the land up a some, and with Stan about warming it up. I really like your composition and the quiet mood.

Great control of the dynamic range. Maybe a little warmer.

You excel at these scenes, Bill, and this is no exception. No suggestions.

Bill, I really like your composition and using the ULHC placement with the prominent FG reeds or switch grasses. The sun finds itself in a perfect spot in the scene too.
I could go along with trying to slightly lift the land shadows, but not at the loss of the dead on exposure and or contrast. As always, you've got these beach / seascapes dialed in........very nice! :toast:
