The Magic of Elowah

This image is from my first trip to the famed Gorge. I had very little time to spend here, but managed to sneak in a few hikes to the beautiful falls.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this one. Multiple exposures to handle dynamic range, some DOF blending as well. I had to wait in freezing water here for the sun to hide behind the clouds so that I could expose for the falls in background. Plenty of fun mosquitos kept me company during the wait

Please view large.

This is real nice, Sairam--i really love the comp and great light here! Glad i can see it without having to endure the vicious blood-suckers.
Maybe dial back the moss on the back wall--its a tad electric. Otherwise terrific all around!

Cool capture. Got yourself in perfect position. I agree that the moss looks electric here - but it really does look electric! The midground green might do with some toning down though.

Thanks Daniel, the mid ground greens did appear that way. I was using a polarizer on my lens and it really cranked up the saturation  . Perhaps burning them a bit might help.

Hey Sairam, I dug out my mosquito netting the other day in anticipation of a trip north. I really like the comp. The colors are a little intense, but I'm sure they really are. A hair more room at top if possible would also help. Nice take on the gorge.

Sairam, Nice job on this! I like your comp very much and enjoy this light. The longer exposure worked great here with the water giving a nice feel of motion. I agree the colors might be a bit intense but in this place and light that might be close to what they are. It is a beautiful image.

Thanks Gary! The reason I had to crop the top was because the sky was very bland and blown out. It was distracting the eye from the falls itself. I wish I could have a little more room up top too  .. Hope you catch some great light during your trip, and avoid the company of some of these vicious blood-suckers

Thanks very much Nick! It appears that a lot of the comments mention the intensity of the colors. Perhaps I can tune it down a little

Beautiful shot Sairam with a very nice composition and flow to the water. The greens aren't that far off to me as I see them all the time here in the forest. Great job. :toast:

Nice looking comp, although the top feels a bit cramped to me, would have liked to see a bit more above the falls. I think a small crop off the top and the bottom would help.
