I shot this just after sunrise on Abraham Lake. It was -25 degrees and I could hardly feel my hands when I was done shooting.

nice shot mark. your lens distortion gives it the appearance of having some undulations in the ice! i like the reflected pinks and wonder if you could have done more with that?

That is some sick ice on Abraham Lake. I think I'll stick to the warm climates and just enjoy your work, Mark. Quite a commitment to venture into those conditions. Great work.

Good job braving the cold to get this, Mark. The comp works okay, but, I think, might be more compelling from a lower angle. I like the way the reflection on the right leads the eye to the peak. The background does appear soft - hopefully that is just jpeg compression or suboptimal web sharpening. The blue in the fg is far too intense for me, but that's just my personal preference.

Beautiful shapes and forms Mark. The blues appear a little too intense for my taste. The color range from cool to warm is very refreshing!

I like this a lot, Mark. The morning light is lovely and provides a nice warm/cool contrast. The characteristic bubbles really take on a 3D look in this composition. I like this a lot!!

Yeah, -25 gets to you very quickly! I'm very attracted to the 3D, puzzle like pattern in the foreground ice. (That area by itself would make a great abstract.) I also like the light on the distant peak and the subtle colors in the sky. For me, the dark middle ground doesn't hold interest like the rest of the image. I wonder if by moving you might have found an area where there was a streak of clearer ice with a brighter reflection to pull the eyes through the dark middle. It may also be that a bit of dodging to bring up the subtle sky reflections would help.

Amazing ice pattern, and the color gradient is very nice. Only two small nits for me, there is some strange haloing around the mountain edges, and the photo feels a bit tilted CW for me. But the tilting could be perception.... Nice photo!

Very nice image Mark and I like the warm cool contrast in the colors and your comp. A little blue in the fore ground for me, maybe pulling out a little pink in the ice would help. Very nice image though.
