One of our very rare predator sightings this time in Ruaha, could well be one of the cubs from 18 months before as we believe it was the same pride.

A nice intimate shot. The lion stands out nicely against the contrasting background. The larger version needs to be seen to appreciate fully.

For me, the look the lion has - very pensive - makes this image extra special. Love all the details on the larger version - amazing how many scars he has on his nose already, and nicks in his ear, at his young age. Really shows how violent a life they must lead to survive.
Truly wonderful image... congrats!

Nice close up of this guy. Love the eyes. The green is unusual. Normally, when we see lions, the grass is brown. The detail is great. Well done.

The clarity and sharpness on the head of this young lion is incredible Ken! I really enjoy looking at the wonderful detail that shows his expression of slight apprehensiveness so well. The over all exposure seems maybe just a tad bright, not blown out highlights over exposed, just that the coat and grass seem slightly lighter in tone than I would imagine. I'm really enjoying the quality and artistry of your last few posts Ken.

Thanks everybody for your kind comments.
Green colours in Africa are far more apparent than people think. I believe this is largely down to most visitors coming here in the period June to October when it is very dry and largely brown. After rains it is extremely green, in this case I think I toned down the greens a little too much

Excellent capture. I agree with Rebecka that it feels pensive. The detail in the large version really stands out.

I like the gaze of the young male in this one Ken. Seems like he is in deep tough and makes me wonder what he is thinking about.

Kurt,
He was probably thinking about whether to go to sleep again
