Yes Mom

Working on some grizzly images from Alaska I found one I overlooked the first go round. Nice interaction of the cubs with Mom. Nikon D300 F8 1/200 ISO 400 with Nikon 200-400.

Comments and critiques always welcome. I try to learn from each post.

Cute image - only thing would be to get a hint of the mother's eye. The image could maybe use some more contrast/warmth too but overall you handled this situation well especially with respect to the framing

Well done to capture all three against that nice background, such opportunities are so often very brief. Love the expressions on the cubs and how mom is keeping them in line. Because the background is quite simple and attractive, more dof to capture the threesome in sharper focus would have been acceptable/desirable. The problem of course is that you would have had to bump the iso quite a bit. The D300 got a bit noisy after 400 iso, so there's the rub.

The expression on the cub on left is great.
Of course, some things you can't change and take what you're given. Things like that tuft of grass in front of the cub, or mother's snout blocking cub a little. Oh well, right?
Still, a really nice shot. Like the fact that this image directs my focus more on cubs than the adult.

Only post processing things I would change is to add contrast, darker black point maybe. Also, perhaps sharpen the cubs a bit.

Andrew,
You have fabulous poses here, I do not mind mums head turn.
On my monitor it looks a little soft, perhaps a little selective sharpening would help. if you have PS i would also try linear contrast.

Wonderful interaction that draws the viewer into the mood of the image. The softness doesn't bother me... sort of extends the mood.

Hard to see how you could overlook this one. I like the good look at the cubs' faces. A little more head turn by the mom would have been nice but sweet shot anyway.

Hello Andrew

Well done. Difficult to get All in sharp focus, looking alert, Full body , etc... I like the grouping.

Maybe Colours are a little flat . Great BaBy Bear expression and Moms Eye contact WITH HIM !

Nice moment and interaction between mom and the cubs. Ken said exactly what I was thinking.
