Triple Falls sunrise in Glacier, taken shortly after this post

This was one of the hardest images I've had to process. It is made up of 6 images; 4 of them for dynamic range, and 2 to remove unwanted flare caused by shooting directly into the sun.

As always, thanks for your thoughts and don't forget to take a look at the larger version!

More dramatic than the first post, but that also means harsher light. I prefer the detail in the first post.

A completely different mood than your previous post Zack. Love the warmth in this one. I think you did an excellent job taming the light.

Gorgeous shot Zach, I think you captures this scene perfectly. Is there some secret to getting such clean sunstars (that your be willing to share). I've seen them from a few folks but mine are never quite as crisp even though I'm using a great lens. Really well done.

Great image all around, with good light handling, and good natural processing. Just remove the small water droplet/flare on the edge of the closest cascade (bottom of the image and towards the middle), and this will be perfect!!
Amazing to see the changes in light from your last post of this area...

Excellent image, Zack! Great job with the processing. My only suggestions would be to clone out the water spot mentioned above, and, if possible, lightening up the deepest shadows in the rocks to bring out a bit more detail - the blocked up shadows are a little distracting. Then, print it Big!!

I much prefer the light here as opposed to your previous version. However, the sunstar is almost overwhelming to the point of distraction. I'm probably the only one who feels this way.

Good eye Nathan, don't know how I missed that little flare spot. Thanks!

Thomas: I think the combination of a small aperture and something to block the sun partially, in this case the clouds, produces the best sunstars.

Doug: thanks for the suggestion!

Here's a repost with the flare spot removed, the shadows in the rocks opened up a bit, and the sunstar toned down a little.

Spectacular, Zack. Your second post nails it. Love the play of light on the falling water. Fantastic.

Amazing Zack. The repost is just about perfect. It has a sort of HDR ish vibe to it. I would love to have this shot. Print it big and sell the crap out of it. You handled this tough lighting situation incredibly well. The sun star is something I also struggle with and join Thomas in wanting to know your secret . Really great work. :toast:

The sheen and shutter speed on the water fantastic, Zack. I think you did a great job handling the harsh light. I Was thinking the same thing as John re: sunstar and think you got it right in your rp

Real nice image. I think I would prefer a middle ground on the shadows between the versions. It would add back a bit of the contrast of the first version. But looks darn good either way.

It's one of the best I've seen, and I've seen quite a few, I myself want to shoot there this year. I do like the centralised sunburst but I'm particularly keen on the light on the water just above the word NATURE. If I were to make a slight criticism I would have to say personally I might have removed the tiny dark smudge of cloud which sits just about two o'clock from the sunburst. It's obviously cloud but it could almost be mistaken for a dust spot.

One of the very best. The light is epic. Even though I prefer the sunstar less over powering I prefer the first post which just seems a touch more dynamic overall.
