Grand Canyon, Arizona

This is an older image taken back in 2007. I decided to try this in B&W because of the dramatic thunderhead cloud in the distance. Thanks for having look.

Canon EF-S 10-22mm at 15mm

This image grabs ones attention in a very positive way everything in it works in harmony and just feels right, therefor it will take a rating of excellent + in the enormes pool of takes of the GC, I have seen. :toast: :toast:

This works very well in B&W with the great tonal range. I'm not sure how others will feel, but I think the 50/50 comp works here as there are two distinct areas of interest in the frame. The one nit that I would have is that the butte on the LHS of the frame kind of blends in to the background. It might be worth doing some dodging / burning work to try to create some tonal separation. Otherwise, this is a fine image!!

Nice comp, a good idea to center the cloud. I think Bw works well here as well

Beautiful!! Excellent sky, great "pop" to the image and wonderful depth. It is definitely an echo of the old master Ansel.

Its hard to out do the power of the canyon itself but that cloud does it. Beautifully framed and processed!

The b&w version sings "classic" with all of the shadows and the bright white, thunderhead. It's a great rendition. Then I scrolled down and saw the color version. It's also great with lovely colors and dramatic sky. After considerable scrolling, I think I very slightly prefer the color version because of the variety of colors in the rocks but both are lovely.

Spectacular canyon image, Eva. The textures here are just incredible and it's processed perfectly. I much prefer the B&W in this one.

Way to take advantage of some great stormy conditions , Eva. I prefer the b/w version myself. I see so many color versions that the b/w is not only refreshing but , as Mark says, classic. Very nice. :toast:

Wonderful image, Eva! Both versions are great, but the b&w really sings IMO. I agree with Brian's comment on working to create a little tonal separation for the left butte if possible (for the b&w version). The colors do that for you in the color version, but I just like the drama, detail, and "classic" feel of this one in b&w. :toast:

Wow, Eva, this is spectacular. That cloud is awesome and your use of b/w is perfect to bring out the wonderful tonality of the canyon and sky. Hands down the b/w over the color version. Incredible.

Absolutely gorgeous. Love the texture contrast between clouds and rock, and the gradations of b & w.
