Red Fox Stance

Hi - I am using a different fox image than the last one and trying to reduce some oof foreground in this one. I missed the fox's eye with my sensor on this shot but I still feel I kept some pretty good sharpness with it.

Please let me know if you like it, especially the composition.

Canon EOS 5D MIII
Canon EF 300m f/2.8L IS II USM

Hand held

Manual Exposure

ISO 1000
f/6.3
1/1000s

I did a little saturation selectively on the oranges and sharpened the face a bit. That's it.

Really nice eye contact, Ashleigh, and good hunting posture. Nice work!

Great capture Ashleigh, wonderful pose and intense look and the light on the fur really makes the fox pop against the background.

Asleigh,
Both the pose and composition are great, I might try a little selective sharpening on the eyes :toast:

Love the eye contact Ashleigh and a great low pov.
As far as composition goes I find the crop a bit tight. I would like to have seen a bit more of the habitat and perhaps move the fox off centre a bit more.

I like the image as posted with the low perspective and the way the fox looks like it is sniffing the ground. The snow is still a bit harsh but this is a difficult contrast shot. Maybe one of the wildlife moderators who photograph in snow a lot can give some tips on dealing with the snow as we do not see much of this in Tucson. Nice job in getting this shot.

Great shot Ashleigh. My only comment is that it might benefit from a tad more contrast. Love those eyes.

Hi thank you Mr. Austin. Do you mean more contrast on just the fox?

Also I don't know post-processing that well but do you mean the mid-tones?

Thanks!

Hi here's a new version. I made more space around the fox, sharpened the eyes a little more and adjusted the contrast. It may not look like much of a difference though. If I could tone down the snow I would.

I really like the pose and low angle here Ashleigh!
Nice separation from the background too.

The tweaks in the repost made for nice improvement. The low, low perspective is key to the sense of drama.

Beautiful fox and I love the pose and the look he is giving you. Nice BG and the snow adds a nice touch also.
