Another from yesterday afternoon. A cloud was partially obscuring the sun and the image was a bit cold so I warmed it a bit with WB.

1Div, 500mm f4ISL 1.4TC, Black Widow Gimbal mounted to blind window, f9, 1/160, Av mode with -1 stop compensation, iso 1000. Processing in LR5 and CS6. Cropped to 10.4MP. Taken January 3rd at 3:40 pm.

Your comments and criticisms are very much appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

A good bird on a good perch! I like your background here as well Dennis. Might ask for just a bit more dof for the perch and tail.

Thanks, Gary. I would have loved a bit more dof, but with the tail pointed back like that, I probably would have needed f32 to get it all (5 cm dof at 5m distance and f32). :frown: Darn physics keeps getting in the way of good photography.

I've never seen one, so I can't tell if the warming was effective or not, but the image is certainly eye-pleasing! Considering the light, physics aside, I think you got the best that was there that could be caught with enough SS to stay sharp.

Very nice, I like the pose, perch with lichen and that wonderful background, way to go.

Dennis I have never seen one of these. Sure would like to. The reasons I like this picture are the handling of the whites on the side of the face, the colors in the perch, the lichen on the perch and the uncluttered BG. As mentioned the tail is OOF, but that is not a deal breaker for me. Congratulations. :wavey:
