Taken in my back yard in February, 2011. Liked how the ice-covered branches caught the afternoon sunlight. Comments and suggestions always welcome and thanks for viewing.
Canon Powershot SX1-IS, fixed zoom lens at 280mm, HH, ISO 80, f/8.0, 1/100, matrix metering; only post-processing was sharpening in PSE.

Wow, those branches are really sizzling with light! They look like they are electrified! While ice covering branches can be harmful to the trees, they often are quite beautiful to look at. My one idea was to simplify this image by cropping in from the left to just to the left of the tallest branch. I like the way the branches slope downward in the right part of the scene and this would showcase that simple scene in more of a square comp. Just an idea. Very cool find, Jim.

Wow Jim - this is SPARKLY!!! Very nice.

Not sure how you feel about post-processing, but one of the things I try to do is accentuate a feature already in the photo. You have a lot of little starbursts coming off these branches, and my thoughts would be to try and find a few of them (probably no more than 3 to 5) to enlarge just slightly. Not too garish or anything, but - since they're already there - why not work with what nature gave?

I'm glad you shared this, as that would have been a stunningly gorgeous afternoon

You captured the brightness (sparkle) of the reflected light very nicely, Jim. The larger version really shows all the little stars better. As Carolyn said, the ice can be very hard on the trees but it sure can be pretty at the same time. Kind of a bad news, good news story.

All of the sparkles on the icy branches are great. I agree with Carolyn's crop suggestion because it gives you the sparkles pointing along one diagonal and the branch/sky line flowing along the opposite diagonal. Another excellent job of seeing the details.
