Heavenly Body

by Gary Minish

One of the peaks on Thompson Pass right after a 4 ft. deep fresh snowfall. All the snow machine and ski tracks are erased and the snow looks like frosting on a cake. The low level sunlight and the cloud streamers really topped off the scene.

Sony DSC-F707, 4 vertical photos stitched.

I especially like the light in this, very nice dynamic tonal range Gary.
I agree, a 'Heavenly Body' it is. And you applied just the right amount of PP 'frosting'
No nits from me - Excellent! :toast: :toast:

I like the overall blue cast to the scene, Gary. It seems to fit the weather conditions quite well.
I spent two years flying to all of the USAF White Alice sites in Alaska as part of engineering crew. This reminds me of several of those sites, especially Indian Mountain.

Great comp of this scene, Gary. Nice interest in the top (color of sky and streaming clouds), middle (varying textures and tones of color on the mountains), and the foreground (smooth snow with a clump of grass on the right plus some a few random pine trees)--all balanced out very well in this pano comp. I also really like the way the clouds seem to be radiating out from the mountain top. Just needs one of your dogs sitting in the left foreground, staring off into the scene!

Lots of different hues in the snow and sky and the whispy clouds add interest to the overall scene. The lone pines give a sense of scale and the distant peak in the background adds depth. Nicely done!

The cloud streams coming off the peak, indeed top off the scene well. The textures and lighting are great.
