Thank you for your comments on my recent postings. Here's the companion to my earlier image of the grasses on the shoreline of the Merced River in Yosemite.

Astia 100F
November 2013

Please see the large version. Thanks!

Your comments are always appreciated.

It amazes me that in the thickness of grass, there is very little bending or breakage. There is a lesson there, I suppose.

i'm enjoying this, preston - the lines and tones in particular. light appears a bit dull and I cannot help myself but imagine how one might go about exploring this in b&w!

I really like this, nice pattern and array of autumn colors. However, I am finding it on the blue side. I would like it warmed up quite a bit. And I think that would give it more pop, too.

Thanks for the suggestion, Mr. H. You are correct: the images was too cool, so I used an 85 Warming Filter in CS6.

Here's the result, which I think is much better.

Any further suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks,

I think it would be great in B&W, reminds me of some of the pictures of Harry Callahan...

Yours and Harley's image make a great pair. Details that still captivate.

I'll have to vote for the previous post. This version emphasizes the textures of the grass nicely, but I sure liked the strong sense of movement in the earlier version and the added interest of the fallen leaves.

Preston, Really like the original post, so I'm going with that, the golden grasses really draw my eye and tell a story of a changing season, love this type of photography, and you do it beautifully.

I do like the first one better, but this is still a very nice intimate detail study.

Works well as a semi abstract. No real nits.

Nice complementary lines in there. Warmer version looks even better. The square crop works well for this comp.

Thanks for your comments, all.

I may look at B&W for this, as suggested by John.
