Great Egret Pair

I captured this egret pair at the Dallas rookery a couple of years ago. I thought I would go back and process the image again using some of the new tools that I have discovered (LightZone). I shot this at f11 in an attempt to get all of the flying egret in focus. That resulted in a lower shutter speed that didn't quite freeze all the action. I could have used a higher ISO, but the 7D with this lens has quite a bit of noise, even at moderate ISO's. I obviously cut off the wing and the image is somewhat centered, but I think it shows interesting action and the egrets are beautiful in their breeding colors.

Comments and critiques welcome.

Nice action, Jerry and the exposure looks good. I like the relative positions, and for my taste, the missing parts are not that big an issue, though in retrospect, backing off on the zoom would have been a little better.

A very nice capture. The cut-off wing and missing tail on the roosting bird is a negative for me. Yur DOF/motion trade off is just right.

I largely agree with your own critique, Jerry. You caught an interesting moment with both birds.

Nice interaction between these two birds. I don't mind the cut off wings/legs in this shot at all and I think the comp is good. Rules are made to broken on occasion. Also like those lime green lores.
