‘Worse for Wear’
Tricolored Heron recuperating on a sand bar in middle of River. This fellow had a dispute with 3 crows during an aerial dogfight we witness from a distance as we approached down river. The combatants disappeared below the tree tops as I was grabbing my gear and as we rounded the bend, the crows were flying on and the Heron was grounded, a bit stunned and a little worse for wear. Camera HH from boat with reflections from Cypress Trees in fall color on far bank illuminated by afternoon sunlight. Cropped to 16 x 9 format with slight CW rotation.

I like the disheveled look of the Heron, Mike, and I also like the cypress reflection. I do wish they didn't line up quite so well. I think the Heron would pop better if it didn't have the reflected tree trunk behind it.

Nice blue on blue Mike, I would lighten it up just a bit.

Nice shot of this guy. He does look a little the worse for wear with feathers askew after the skirmish with the crows. I would bring down the contrast just a little bit but overall a good shot.
