Beach Life

I thought I might as well post one more beach shot from last summer before getting back to all the Autumn photos. A feather next to a crab burrow and body parts at sunrise reminded me of the daily life-and-death drama that occurs before the Sun lovers hit the beach.

I shot many exposures for focus-blending, and to catch the right wave, but in the end I like this single exposure. The out-of-focus background looks natural to me for such a close view of the sand.

1/200 sec. @ f/18; ISO 320

The foggy atmosphere reminds me of early morning on the LA gulf coast beaches I often visit. The low angle and somber colors give this a natural feel.
