Until the Last Moment

One more photo I wanted to show, capturing the transition from fall to winter. shot the morning after the season's first light snowfall in the Smokies. I shot this about a half mile from my last post, and zoomed out a bit to capture the mist above the mountains to add a little bit more dynamic. Single shot with minimal processing. Thanks for any critiques, and have a good weekend.

Fantastic Chris. Maybe does have the initial wow factor of some of your other images, but I think it will have a more lasting impact, more timeless.

Great work :toast:

Thanks, Jeremy. This trip I was aiming for more subtle beauty, photos that were just easy to look at, without as much in-the-face-drama I'm usually after. Change of pace is nice sometimes :-)

Beautiful colors in this Chris and the snow in the trees is wonderful. Also like the cloud boiling off the slope. Very nice.

Outstanding, really enjoying this. The clouds and mist put it apart from most fall images. Lots of wonderful textures as well as colors. Great timing and comp. Maybe a hair too much sky compositionally for me, but very minor. Excellent job on this.

Thanks, Harry. I did feel like that mist in the sky was worth including to give a little more dynamic to the shot. I'll play with cropping some of it off. I appreciate your comments. The thumbnail kinda stinks, I should have uploaded a larger version its much better :)

Beautiful light and comp to showcase the transition of the seasons, Chris. The rising mist sets the table nicely for the wonderful mood captured here. I could also see this working with a small crop of some sky, but certainly beautiful as is.
