Early Light
by Nick Bristol
This is a picture I made on my second day out during my fall trip around the Lake Superior area. I returned on Friday afternoon but may head back up this week for a few more days. This was at Gooseberry Falls in northern MN and I waited for the early morning light to come in lighting the scene. I was originally hoping for some fog but I certainly enjoyed this first light in the morning. I made several different comps here with the cedar trees and roots with the falls in the background and really enjoyed that early morning. The water was only flowing over about half of the falls here. Thanks for your comments on my last post and any thoughts on this one. Please view the larger version.

Richard, Thanks, I do have some closer shots of the falls as well...
I wish the branches on the left were not there.
If not against your ethics, I might try to get rid of them.
Stan, I thought those branches might be a distraction too, but I liked the light in this one so went ahead with it. I do have a few other comps because of that reason but not quite as nice of light.

Peter, I totally agree and love the start of a new day.
