Summer Aspen

Last week I went to RMNP for 7 days and had an incredible time. One of the days I was driving around looking for an good Aspen grove to photograph and found one that looked promising. I pulled over and noticed two other people photographing the grove. I patiently waited and once they headed back to their vehicle I moved into position and started to shoot. A few moments later one of the gentlemen approached me and asked why I has stopped at this particular location to shoot. I told him that I though it looked like the best grove in the area and had alot of potential. He then told me that this was the first time he had ever seen anyone else shoot at that location. He was a photo guide for the area and this was one of his "spots". He gave me a few composition suggestions and then headed out. I thought that was pretty cool:)

I finally have the decent shot of Aspen trees that I have been trying to get for the last two years!

C&C are welcome

I think is very nice, Evan. Your idea in conjunction with the photo guides tip worked out very well overall. The tree boles and the surrounding greenery has a pleasant summer time look to the aspen grove. Nice contrast between the whites, greens, & grays.

The only thing I might do is work on the highlights a bit. Maybe some work there will take a bit of the glare off those. Otherwise a nice scene all the way around.

Evan, This is a nice summer scene with the aspens. I agree with Paul's suggestion and also might consider cloning out the dead tree on the ground. For me it is a bit distracting coming in to the frame as it does and taking away a bit from the vert flow. Not a big deal but just a suggestion that might help a bit imo. The larger version looks pretty cool.

It does look like a very nice grove of Aspens. It also shows off the scarring due to overgrazing by the local Elk herds. I agree that the whites are a bit hot, but otherwise it really shows off the aspens well.
