Immature GH Owl

Olympus E5, ZD300 2.8, ISO400, f3.2, 1/500 resting on monopod

Been away for 2 months so am trying to catch up on some birding. Family of GHOs live in a local state park, and this one gave me some good looks in mid-afternoon. It was quite cloudy with rain on the way. Larger version has decent detail and is full frame. Usually don't get these youngsters down very low - its siblings were sleeping high in a tree in the dark.

Very nice. The tree really adds to this image. Larger version shows nice sharpness. Nice image.

I like the way the owl is tucked in amongst the foliage, it has anice cosy feel. The detail on the large version is terrific with great colours. :toast:

I like the way the owlet is framed (top and bottom). Very sharp details. If any, I might consider toning down the two twigs poking at the bird's back, but that is minor. Fine image as is.

Excellent, David. Wonderful find to get this bird down at our level and in the open.

Great image showing lots of detail. I really lik ehow the bird is set between the two bands of green vegetation and those bright eyes
