Common Ringlet

On Sunday, I went out to a local natural area to photograph birds. I decided to leave my extension tubes in the car and headed out in search of some cooperative birds. I ran into this common ringlet and the lighting was bright and soft so I set to work with the equipment I had with me--K5 IIs (Av + .3 ev, 300mm f4 set at f8, 1/250th sec exposure, iso 400). I did a slight crop for composition, levels and sharpened slightly with Topaz Detail. Thank you checking out my image........Jim

Jim ..the larger version is wonderful and the detail is excellent. I like the composition, which works very well...

Way to make use of what you had to work with, Jim. I like the soft light, and the subject detail is excellent.

The detail in the bf is great and it's set against such a wonderful background. I'd sure like to see this with extension tubes (for a bit more magnification) and a bit lower pov so that the bf is completely backed by the darker greens. Isn't it always the case that the equipment you leave behind is always what you wish for later. Well done, using what you had on hand.
