This one is taken in a beautiful old growth forest, with massive century old pines and dead trees everywhere.

Vällingsjö urskog nature reserve, Sweden, May 2013, f/20, 3s, ISO 200, 35 mm.

Larger version included. C&C appreciated!

A story telling image and very appealing composition for me, Roel. The fallen log in the foreground makes for a nice leading line, interestingly complemented by the dead branches. The upcoming green undergrowth tells me about spring in this old forest. The slight blue cast conveys a feel of "blue hour" to me, that is consistent with the atmosphere to my eye.

Roel,

I like this forest scene very much and agree with Peter that this is a story telling image and I think you've captured it very well.

The only suggestion I have really is that I think you could bring down the lights and maybe even the midtones slightlty. It's almost like some of the shadow areas have been opened up too. All together, I think this could use just a little punch and exposure reduced, slightly. Not far off and of course well within one's personal preferences, nothing wrong.

Very nice scene. It is an everyday forest scene, but well captured and composed to make a real nice image. I would agree with Lon's suggestions.

Thanks for the tips, I'll play around with them! I did not open up any shadows, but this photo was taken well after sunset (hence the long exposure time) which is why it looks a bit differently. That is actually one of my favorite moments for taking photo's, because of the different atmosphere the photo's get. And that's also why it has a slight blue cast which Peter is talking about.
