The Lookout

A very relaxing morning on the seashore near Nanaimo. The ocean was actually quite choppy so I tried a long exposure to soften the mood. Even the seagull sat still for a long exposure for me.

Love the silhouetted bird. This image has a quiet, easy feel to it that I really enjoy. Nice job

This has a serene quality which is very appealing, Bill. The long SS and colors wwork beautifully together and the seagull is the icing on the cake. Nice work.

What a wonderful scene here, Bill. Your capture in the low light works so well with this isolated & solitary silhouette. The lookout name is perfect for this sentinel guarding the bay area overall. Sky colors and water action all add to this peaceful capture.

Very nice. Love the mood created by the long exposure. What a cooperative gull to sit still that long! Excellent image.

Beautiful image Bill, wonderful soft colors and I particularly like the contrast between the highly textured rocks and the blurred water. The horizon line (edge of water) is a little out of level needing a clockwise rotation.

Apart from a slightly titled horizon this picture is perfect! The rocks, the sky, the blurriness of the water, the seagull, it all fits together! Very well done!

Bill: Makes me want to be there! Love the combination of silky water and sky and the pinnacle with the gull is the finishing touch. Wonderful capture of the moment. >=))>

Bill,

Outstanding! This is fabulous! Don't know how you got that gull to stand still for 8 seconds, it sure looks like it was frozen just long enough, and a great finishing touch to this beautiful coastal image. The range of color is wonderful and the mood, well just wonderful too.

the only small nit I have is that the horizon seems to be rotated slightly ccw. Something you might want to look at if you ever want to print this.

Cool timing of the bird for you, and the whole image feels ethereal.

The long exposure works well to create a mysterious mood. The bird looks like it is presiding over another world. This works really well.

Don’t ya just hate it when an animal invades a carefully planned comp and places it’s self in the perfect spot? Nice….
The comp is strong as is the sky.

Is this a two exposure blend? The background peaks seem to be a bit bright against the sky, but I can’t tell for sure.

Gorgeous scene Bill. Your shutter speed works perfectly and I sure like how the gull posed for you.

Cool photo. Amazing that the bird stayed that motionless for the whole exposure.
