Ian: I generally have a little bit of a hard time with magnolias so when I see an image as good as this one I have a special appreciation. This is superbly composed and I especially like how you handled the whites. 2+ thumbs up! >=))>

Winner! The white is almost high-key effect... soft yet distinct where needed. Great creative comp of the difficult magnolia.

Wonderful image,Ian. You incorporated just enough of the flower and the curves of the petals around the center are perfect.

Graceful and pristine looking presentation, Ian! I like how it gently fades to being a little soft at the edges of the frame in counterpoint to the details of the flower's center. Nice done.

This is just wonderful Ian. Great details in the center. The strong lines are very elegant. I like the near colorless look to the photo.

Ian:

I echo what Bill said as I too find magnolia very challenging. The is as good as it gets; perfect exposure of the white, the intricate structures of the center and the lovely curves in the petal. :toast:

What a delicate and simple beauty Ian! The petals of the magnolia are so long that even the f/22 it is unable to control, lukily. The slow selective focus is one of the plus of this image, I think. This is in harmony with the delicate, low saturated und splendid neutral colors of the center. The photo deserves a recognition, in my opinion.

Haven't visited this gallery much recently and I've clearly missed some great shots. This is one of them! Love all the movement in the petals and how they surround the center. The high key approach is perfect.
