Little Ruby-crowned Kinglet from last winter here in Central Texas..
Very quick in their movements, and never in one spot for more than a few moments. And they sure keep ya busy trying to get focus :)
F/10, 1/1000th, ISO 500, 1D M3, 300mm f/2.8 + 1.4x @ 11:23am. Clear & sunny, no flash.

VERY hard bird to photograph and nice job getting this Howard. I really like the fact, you can see the crown.

Great detail with a wonderful pose. You captured the little red dot at the top of his head.

Very nice Howard. All the techs look spot on. Wish the small branch sticking up wasn't there. Oh well.

Is that little red dot on the back of its head the 'ruby crown'?
Once again this is a species I've never seen before but it is beautifully shot. Well done.

Wonderful shot of a bird that does not sit still for very long, I have yet to get a good shot of one. The background compliments the image and the stick does not bother me. Way to go Howard.

Yes, they can be a challenge to get spotted for a second. Very nice.

"Is that little red dot on the back of its head the 'ruby crown'?"
The males have the 'Ruby" crown Martin. They only raise it momentarily & rarely.
In this one there's another male nearby, so he's warning it to back off.
Vertical frame for possible cover use.. One can always hope
