Common + Hoary Redpolls

Nature was generous and these two birds perched in front of the camera at the right time.

Taken at 1/500s f/9, ISO 640 with 500mm f/4 + TC 1.4X on D300. Cropped about 50% and a small branch behind the left bird was cloned out.

Love the overall color and feel to this picture - -what hurts it for me is no catchlight in either bird -- the reds on the left bird is an eyecatcher out of the greyish background

Great that you gained good focus on both species, and two's always cuter
Nice poses each also. Feels a bit cramped left side, but just a thought.
Perhaps bit off the top & right side if you have the res?
Well done Claude :wavey:

I like how you balanced the shot Claude, but I do find myself wishing for a bit more DOF. One, so the BG bird was a little more in focus, but mostly because the branch on the top left is a bit distracting. I find it distracting because It appears to be in front of the bird because of how it is positioned in the frame, but not sure it was because it doesn't look as in focus as the BG bird. Hope that makes sense. I think cloning it out would turn this shot up a notch IMO.
