Frustration Beach

West Coast, New Zealand

One I've kept in a box since last year, but one of my favourites. Dubbed "Frustration Beach" by a workshop participant last year due to the difficulty in coming up with a composition from the chaotic landscape. All my zoom lenses were not in working order but I had my portrait primes handy on that day.

Canon 5DMkII, 50mm 1.4, ISO 200, f22, 70 seconds.

PS. Apologies for being MIA for the last month, shooting travel stuff in Italy.

Beautiful blue hour image Kah Kit. I really like the near far comp and the glow on the mountains and stump. Really nice.

The thumb does not do this one justice. The blue sky works nicely with the crisp mountains. I can almost smell the clean air.

I’m wondering of you have any abstracts of those interesting foreground rocks.

That's some nice wood you got there. The clear sky suits the composition. An interesting shot all around.

Kah Kit, The larger version is absolutely Beautiful! Excellent work with your comp, and then the light, colors and detail are fantastic! I really enjoy looking at this image and love the mood :toast: :toast:

I really like this one, KK--cool subject! The centering works with the two peaks in the bg framing the fg subject. Super minor nit: The top of the tree is getting a little close to the hill top--might even be worth cloning bit off the top... :wavey:

I really like how the gnarled stump anchors the scene here. You definitely did a good job taming the chaos. The blue and gold tones are also very nice. You missed a few dust spots in the sky

I like the subtle light and color here Kah Kit. Nice detail in the shadows which does't over power the scene but provides a neutral backdrop for the drift wood.

Marvelous comp and detail, and the light allows all of the beauty of this place to come through. Excellent work.

Hope you post some of your travel work over in POP gallery! :wavey:

Like the way the stump is used as foreground interest. Subtle color palette is also very soothing. Well done.

You always come up with something special, Kah Kit. Part of it, I think, it how well you handle the light. The comps and light just go together so well.

Outstanding color tones throughout the image. I would say you defeated "Frustration Beach" quite nicely.
