Foggy Autumn Morning

This is a picture I made this past October on a foggy morning. I was up in the hills around my home area not long after sunrise. The fog had been very heavy in the river valley so I headed up in to the hills to see what I could find that morning. I switched to a longer lens and came up with this comp and made the shot. Thanks for any thoughts and also for all of your comments on my last post!
I just finished plowing and shoveling another 10" of heavy snow from yesterday.

Larger version included for a better look.

A very moody image. It has the feel of a damp autumn morning. I like it.

Tough conditions, but a beautiful, moody image. The only suggestion I might make is to use a polarizer if you do this again, to brighten up the colors. :toast:

I think the fog and the FG trees give this image an interesting appeal. IMO it is very abstract. While not a specific recommendation...I wonder how it would look if the yellow leaves in the center were toned down a bit.

Love the subtle receding layers to your composition, Nick, and of course that fog and the autumn color. Really gives a sense of a cold, wet autumn morning. I really like the inclusion of the barren trees across the bottom too, which contrast nicely with the autumn color and really adds to the mood evoked by your image.

Love the mood and misty, muted colors Nick. The yellow foliage adds a lot of interest to the scene.

An exceptional capture for me, Nick. I do enjoy the way the valley is leading me into the depth and then the bright foliage is drawing my attention again back to the midground. The dark pattern of the bare trees at the bottom make for a very interesting anchore of the image to me. A consistent and convincing work in my opinion.

I like the dark moody feeling and how it's anchored by the golden trees near the center. I like the tree silhouettes at the bottom are good, but would like to see a bit less of them.

Nicely captured and presented, Nick. The larger version is a must see to really appreciate the view. The fog dampened scene makes for an additional feeling of the season too. Nice work.

I can almost feel the hush, Nick. And, I always love what fog does to fall scenes. And, this one is a beautiful example of why. Really nice layers, and color.

Composition is spot on Nick, the hint of colour coming through the mist is nice.

I really like the subtle and understated feel of this image Nick. The fog and colors come together nicely to make a strong image. I also like how you included the bare trees at the bottom of the frame.

The fog muted the colors beautifully and you handled the exposure extremely well Nick. I really love this image! :toast:

Very cool! I like the way it proceeds from the dark trees at the bottom to light...you definitely would not want to brighten up the colors! I like the muted feeling of this!
